LECTORIA

Web-based product design using openAI API integrations.

Role: End-to-end product design

Software used: Figma, Adobe CC

02 The process

Ideating

While ideating the functionalities, we looked at competitors and similar solutions to create an MVP that can be tested with real lectors. Due to the niche nature of the product and limited resources, we haven't been able to gather many insights before creating the product - therefore we built the product first and are shipping it to be tested at the end of June 2024.

01 Overview

What's LECTORIA?

LECTORIA is a new web-based product for lectors, editors, and translators - it is the self-proclaimed most accurate and reliable machine proofreading in the world, accessible only to a limited group. LECTORIA focuses on two topics: the highest accuracy and the highest data security. Not only does LECTORIA correct grammar and typos, but it also helps rephrase sentences using openAI solutions - it's truly an alternative to a human lector.

LECTORIA's goals

LECTORIA aims to provide a cheap and highly reliable alternative for proofreading and editing of work. Whether it be scientific documents, dissertations, or the newest work of writing waiting to be published, LECTORIA offers a higher accuracy in editing works than its competitors in the German market.

MVP UI

After wireframing the functionality and structure of the pages, we set out to design the V1 of the user interface with all states and variations.

Refinements

As this is an ongoing project, we're currently moving on to phase 2 which will be built and tested after the MVP feedback. Phase 2 will include payment options and subscription tiers, as well as further supporting pages and waitlist for wider audience of lectors and editors.

04 Limitations & next steps

The current limitation is the lack of testing and compromises due to the nature of the product - using openAI's APIs is proving to be difficult in finding solutions that would be user-friendly and use existing API solutions. The next few months should dictate the direction the product will take.
